Abisola Adekanye is a strategic business development professional with over seven years of experience transforming ideas into sustainable initiatives at the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN). As the Lead of the Business Development Unit (BDU), she is at the forefront of IHVN’s institutional sustainability efforts—designing innovative business models, unlocking new income streams, and elevating internal services to support the organisation’s long-term public health impact.
Abisola plays a pivotal role in the commercialisation of IHVN’s laboratory services, developing frameworks that offer high-quality diagnostics to private clients while ensuring smooth internal service delivery. She works closely with the lab and operations teams to position IHVN as a reliable diagnostic partner in Nigeria’s evolving health ecosystem.
She also leads the optimisation of IHVN-managed assets, including the Conference Hall, Guest House, Cafeteria, Gym, and Creche, transforming them into revenue-generating, highstandard services. Her work on expanding the usage and visibility of the Conference Hall aligns with IHVN’s broader drive toward self-reliance, making it a go-to venue for internal and external events, scientific seminars, and corporate trainings.
A natural collaborator and creative strategist, Abisola supports departments across the Institute in developing tailored business models for trainings and special programs, ensuring they are impactful, scalable, and financially viable.
Her projects blend technical insight with entrepreneurial thinking. Abisola holds a B.Sc. in Sociology from Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, and an MA in International Relations from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom. Her academic grounding in human systems and global development, combined with sharp business instincts, gives her a unique advantage in navigating complex institutional landscapes and fostering strategic growth.
She is passionate about building meaningful partnerships, delivering smart solutions, and pushing boundaries to help IHVN grow stronger, smarter, and more sustainable
